Dhiraagu Road Race: Nepalese sprinter takes half-marathon win

Nepalese sprinter Kiran Singh Bihari Rajwar took first place in the half marathon category of Dhiraagu Road Race held on Friday, October 27.

Maldivian sprinter, Yoosuf Ibrahim, who also holds the national half marathon record came in second at the category with Kenya's sprinter Charles Kipcorir Kipson coming in third.

Dhiraagu distinguished separate awards for foreign sprinters and local sprinters, which allowed Yoosuf Ibrahim to grab first spot in the half marathon round among locals.

Hussain Fazeel Haroon (Flash) secured second place from local sprinters with Shifaz Mohamed, the national record holder in full marathon, coming in third. This marks Shifaz's comeback in an international marathon after a significant hiatus.

Kenyan sprtiner Penaina Jepkoech Keegan won first place from women's half marathon category with Nepal's Pulmathy Rana coming in second. Maldivian sprinter Mariyam Abdul Kareem (Mary) took third place in the category.

While Mary secured the third position in the overall category, she clinched the first place in the Maldivian women's half marathon category, with Aishath Rishmy finishing second. Mariyam Mohamed (Maayan), a former player of the Maldivian women's football team, took the third position in this category.

Kenya's runner David Kipkoech Biri secured first place in both five and 10 kilometers run under the mixed distance category. Maldivian sprinter, who holds the mixed distance national record, Hussain Riza (Kuda Riza) came in second in the 10 kilometers run, with Mohamed Fawaz coming in third.

Among the Maldivian sprinters participating in the mixed distance category, Riza claimed the top spot, followed by Fawaz in second place, and Rizan Rasheed secured the third position.

Maldivian sprinter Shalshal Moobin Jaleel came first in the 10 kilometers run under the mixed distance women's category, while Rasona Ahmed Waheed came second with Anan Ahmed Rasheed coming in third.

Fazeel competed in the men's mixed distance category's five kilometers run. While Kipkoech and Singh came in first and second respectively, Fazeel came in third.

Fazeel however, came in first place from the Maldivian category of the event with Riza coming in second and Yoosuf securing third place.
