Dhiraagu on Monday announced that participants of the annual Dhiraagu Road Race paying their registration fees via Dhiraagu Pay will receive a 50 percent discount.

The telecommunications giant stated that they will donate the funds raised through fee collection to organisations or NGO's advocating for children's rights

The first 1000 runners that credit fees through the company's digital wallet are eligible for the discount, upon which Dhiraagu will donate the remaining MVR 50 on their behalf. Participants are allowed to contribute more than MVR 100 to the cause as well.

Runners can sign up for the Road Race, scheduled for September 20, at ww.dmrr.mv and can opt to make registration payments through Dhiraagu Pay or a Bank of Maldives (BML) gateway.

In 2018, Dhiraagu donated a total of MVR 600,000 to ten NGO's. The figure consisted of all registration fee payments and an additional MVR 200,000 which the company distributed among the five most popular organizations among runners.

The 2019 Dhiraagu Road Race will feature a 10-kilometre race and a 5-kilometre run which will commence at 0600 hrs and 16:30 hrs respectively. The timing of these two events will enable interested individuals to partake in both.

Furthermore, runners participating in this year's road race can choose their bib numbers if they pay MVR 500.

Incepted in 2007, the Dhiraagu Road Race is the largest and only internationally accredited long-distance run held in Maldives. Although the event was hosted in Hulhumale' since 2016, previous instalments of the race took place in the capital city of Male'.
