A networking event was organized at Dhiraagu's head office to celebrate Women's Day this year.

The event, based on the 'Lean in Circle' networking group method, was attended by female employees of Dhiraagu and prominent women from various fields in the Maldives.

The event is part of Dhiraagu's gender action plan, which is a mentorship program for its female employees. Dhiraagu said the main objective of the networking event is to provide employees with a platform where they can interact with people from different walks of life and discuss each other's experiences and ideas. Dhiraagu employees and special guests from different parts of the country also participated virtually during the event.

Dhiraagu CEO and MD Ismail Rasheed and Director Legal and Company Secretary Hazrath Rasheed Hussain shared updates on Dhiraagu's gender action plan at the event.

Dhiraagu recently introduced a 'flexi work' policy and returnship guidelines as part of its gender action plan.

Approximately 46% of Dhiraagu's junior management positions are occupied by women, representing an increase in female representation within the company. Dhiraagu reports a surge in women taking on technical roles, with five out of the nine female participants in the current Dhiraagu Apprentice program gaining valuable job experience in technical capacities. This marks a positive trend towards enhanced gender diversity and inclusivity within the company's workforce.

The networking event in Dhiraagu concluded with a breakfast catered to by women-led, home-based businesses. The breakfast was organized in association with the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives.

Women empowerment and support for women-owned, home-based and small businesses are central areas of Dhiraagu's CSR strategy. The company has recently partnered with Business Center Corporation (BCC) to support the Hiyala Weekend market to support women's economic empowerment. Dhiraagu strives to create an inclusive work environment and culture that provides non-discriminatory growth and opportunities for growth for all, the company said in a statement.
