Authorities have traced an area of 87 square-miles from the spot of a toppled speedboat, south of Alifu Alifu atoll Maalhos, following a missing person's case.
One of passengers who traveled on the speedboat was found earlier near Alifu Alifu atoll Feridhoo on Friday, October 7. However, the other passenger has yet to be discovered.
Maldives Police report that they searched a total area of 87.6 square miles, starting from the southern outer bay of Alifu Dhaalu Hangnaameedhoo.
The toppled speedboat at Maalhos lagoon was winched to Himandhoo of the same atoll sometime around 01:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities further confirmed the identity of the missing individual; Mohamed Minhaj, from Seenu atoll Hithadhoo. Local authorities have sought public assistance in locating the individual.
Meanwhile, the discovered survivor has been transported to Male' City for medical attention.
So far, authorities have not learned why the vessel toppled, and have not learned the nature of the trip prior to incident.
