The Ministry of Education said on Thursday that three new schools are scheduled to be opened with the start of the new academic year in August.

During a press conference held at the Ministry of Education, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Ahmed Ali, said that three schools in the Malé region are set to commence classes in the first term of the upcoming academic year starting on August 6.

The three schools that will be opening in the Malé region are Dharumavantha School, Salahuddin School in Hulhumalé II, and the new building of CHSE in Hulhumalé.

He further said that Arabiyaa School students will be relocated to the building currently occupied by Dharumavantha School students.

Ahmed Ali said that students in all grades, except new Grade 1 entrants at Dharumavantha and Salahuddin Schools, can now submit their applications to the new schools. Discussions are underway about the new Grade 1 entrants, he added.

Since January of last year, the students of Arabiyaa School have been temporarily occupying the building previously used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This arrangement was made due to significant damage to the pillars of their original school building.

However, parents have expressed concerns about the dilapidated condition of the temporary building being used by Arabiyaa School. A new building for Arabiyaa School is currently under development at the location of the old Jamaluddin School.
