The Ministry of Health, on Thursday, announced plans to establish hospitals in Dhihdhoo, Haa Alif Atoll, Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll and Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll.
As per the ministry, all three of the hospitals will contain a 55-bed capacity, 19 OPD consultation rooms, six private rooms, a three-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) both with three beds, as well as two operation theatres and eight wards, each with a 12-bed capacity.
Additionally, an X-ray room, an ultrasound scan room, a laboratory, a physiotherapy room and an ER department will also be established at the hospitals.
The ministry stated that private rooms and waiting areas would be designed to create a pleasant environment for individuals seeking hospital services or visiting patients.
Highlighting that several health care centres across the country faced difficulties due to a shortage of space, the health ministry stated that the new hospitals would provide convenience for citizens of neighboring atolls and increase public confidence in the healthcare system.
