Authorities have arrested a total of six individuals on suspicion of their involvement in the protest at Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo.
The protest erupted after domestic airline, Manta Air, reportedly declined transporting a patient in critical condition.
Police media correspondent confirms arresting four local males on suspicion of their involvement in the protest. Two other suspects were arrested for their attempt to obstruct officers from performing their duty.
The suspects, men all aged between 27 to 32 years, were taken into custody sometime on August 3, Wednesday.
Protests initially took place on Monday, August 1, when the domestic airline did not carry the patient onboard.
Manta Air confirms it did not have policies on carrying patients on stretchers due to the aircraft type they use. The airline's Managing Director Mohamed Khaleel alleged the protest was instigated to achieve politically-motivated outcomes.
