A tornado has caused severe damage to the island of Bandidhoo in Dhaal Atoll on Tuesday.
The island council revealed that the roofs of the school hall, two houses and a café was thrown off by the tornado. Three rooms, out of which two of the same house, have been damaged beyond use.
However, no one was harmed during the disaster.
Trees and coconut palms had also fallen down due to the tornado.
The island council has been discussing the situation of Bandidhoo with the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).
The island has a population of 981 people.
