The Bank of Maldives (BML) on Tuesday, unveiled the winning designs crafted by Shazif Adam for the national team football jersey, concluding its public design competition dubbed 'AharengeTeam' (loosely translated as 'my team').

Having received over a 100 submissions, the grand prize of MVR 25,000 was secured by Shazif, an established graphics designer.

The jersey will officially be donned by the female national squad when they face India in the South Asian Federation Football (SAFF) Championship hosted at Nepal, on Tuesday.

In a rather literal interpretation of the national team's 'Red Snappers' nickname, Shazif styled the home-kit in red, venturing a step further by incorporating the pattern of Red Snapper scales into the design.

For the away-kit, Shazif drew inspiration from the beauty of Maldivian seas, incorporating its fluid strength with wave-like motifs across the outfit, itself in shades of azure.

Deputy CEO of BML Aishath Noordeen conveyed felicitations to Shazif, declaring the national bank's initiative to host a public design competition as having ended a great success.

The Deputy CEO also stated that BML, a proud sponsor of the national team since 2017, was honoured to have contributed to the development of football in Maldives.
