Seaside Finolhu became the first Maldivian resort to join the prestigious Design Hotels Group, the globally-recognized resource for curated design-led hotels.

Operated by German Hotel Company 'Seaside Collection', Finolhu was awarded the membership after it successfully met various criteria of quality, style and holistic concepts of hospitality.

Finolhu described its design with kaleidoscopic aesthetics "characterised by a mesmerising mélange of colours and symmetrical patterns" that represent joy, wonder and escaping time.

Owner and Managing Partner of Seaside Collection, Gregor Gerlach said that "our vision for Seaside Finolhu is to bring a modern, bright, open sense of feeling where travellers can experience special moments and enjoy themselves".

Award-winning London-based design studio 'Muza Lab' is charged with overseeing the resort’s redesign, to be completed by the second quarter of 2020.

“Our new design direction focuses on the lens of the “Kaleidoscope” the changing colours, patterns and textures representing moments of discovery, wonder and delight” explained Mizu Lab's co-founder Nathan Hutchins.

“Throughout the resort, we have woven special features; woven textiles, basketwork coloured glass, lanterns and origami, through distinct areas each assigned to a unique colour spectrum.

Finolhu is located in the UNESCO-protected Biosphere Reserve of baa Atoll. The area is frequented by megafauna including turtles, whalesharks and manta rays.
