Former MP Mujuthaz approved as CSC member

Parliament has today approved the appointment of former MP for Hanimadhoo Mohamed Mujuthaz as a member of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

All 71 MPs present in today's vote unanimously voted in favour of Mujuthaz's appointment.

Mujuthaz served as the MP for Hanimadhoo in the 17th People's Majlis. After this, he was State Minister at the President's Office during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.

Mujuthaz was also the sole nominee sent by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to fill the CSC member's position.

A CSC member vacancy was created following the resignation of Ibrahim Rasheed, who was previously the commission's Vice President. Rasheed resigned while the parliament's Committee on Independent Institutions was considering his removal following a probe into allegations against him.
