Prosecutor General's Office, on Sunday, charged Adhuham Mohamed with the murder of taxi driver Gasim Hassan and forwarded the case to the Criminal Court.
The 59-year-old victim was fatally stabbed in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale' on December 4, 2019. He was pronounced dead at 21:50 hours in Hulhumale' Hospital.
PG Office stated that Adhuham, who confessed to the murder, was charged under the Act Prohibiting Intimidation and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects.
Authorities found the murder weapon roughly 300 meters from the location in which Gasim's body was discovered. Analysis of the weapon uncovered fingerprint and DNA evidence of the suspect.
Additionally, Adhuham was also recently sentenced to one-year of imprisonment over another conviction.
