Maldives' Revival Sports pair Zayan Zaki and Nibal Ahmed were defeated by India's Viraj Kuvale and Viplav Kuvale in the men's doubles quarterfinals at the Kampala International Badminton Championships in Uganda.
The Indian duo secured a 21-11, 21-11 victory yesterday.
Earlier in the tournament, Zayan and Nibal advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Uganda's Akram Kamoga and Abdul Swaburuh Ssempiri 21-13, 21-8 in the round of 32. They also triumphed over Uganda’s Hassan Jamil Makinda and Ayiiki Jethro Mawa with a 21-2, 21-5 win.
Zayan, Nibal, and Hassan Zayan Mohamed represented Maldives in the men’s singles event. All three players reached the top 32 and competed in the main draw but were eliminated by Indian opponents. Nibal lost to Krish Desai 9-21, 7-21, Hassan Zayan was defeated by Arya Bhivpathaki 9-21, 12-21, and Zayan Zaki fell to Aditya Gupta 11-21, 6-21.
