Deputy Minister at Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Mohamed Saeed Moosa Wajdhee has been suspended from duties.
Wajdhee, who previously worked as a reporter, has been suspended pending investigations of alleged disciplinary matters, Mihaaru reports.
Earlier today, Deputy Minister at Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Hussain Shifaz was also suspended. He was placed under indefinite suspension due to breach of conduct expected of a political appointee.
In addition to these two Deputy Ministers, three other Deputy Ministers, all from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, remain on suspension since January for having made derogatory comments against the Indian Prime Minister and government.
Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Fathimath Thaufeeq and Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ahmed Zuhoor were also both dismissed from their positions today.
