Five reporters from Mihaaru News have won accolades at the Journalism Awards 2022 organized by the Maldives Media Council.
With awards conferred in 12 different categories, five reporters of Mihaaru News won the 'Best Reporter/Journalist' in their respective categories.
Besides the five accolades, reporters of Mihaaru News were nominated in multiple other categories as well.
Mihaaru News' reporter Muizzu Ibrahim won the 'Best Journalist' accolade in Judicial and Legal Correspondence, making this his fifth year of receiving the title.
He is also the recipient of the most number of 'Best Journalist' title in the Judicial and Legal Correspondence field since the award was introduced.
Hussain Habeeb won the 'Best Journalist' title in Sports. A veteran in sports reporting, Habeeb had won multiple accolades in the field previously as well.
Amaany Abdulla, another reporter of Mihaaru News, bagged the 'Best Video Journalist' title while Fayaz Moosa took home the 'Best Photo Journalist' title.
Nazim Hassan won the 'Best Journalist' award from Political Correspondence. Previously, Nazim had won the Most Promising Journalist award in 2018 and the 'Best Journalist' in Judicial and Legal Correspondence in 2019.

Ahmed Naaif from Dhauru News won the "Best Journalist of the Year" award while Asima Nizar from Mihaaru News and Laisha Ahmed from RaajjeTV contended for the top spot in the same category as well.
Besides this, Naaif also won the 'Best Journalist' award in Business Correspondence.
Shahudha Mohamed from Dhauru News won the 'Best Journalist' award from Social Correspondence and Feature Writing while Ahmed Mizyal from the same media won the 'Best Investigative Journalist' award.
Sun Online's Naail Hafeez won the 'Most Promising Journalist' award, with Aishath Nuzuha from Mihaaru News and Aanifa Hussain from Dhiyares competing in the top three spots in the same category.
Additionally, the Managing Editor of Dhauru News Ahmed Zahir (Hiriga Zahir) won the Lifetime Achievement award this year.
Zahir began his career in journalism 34 years back with 'Haveeru' News, after which he had served as the Chief Editor of Sun Online for 11 years.
He is also a founding member of the Maldives Journalist Association and Editors Guild, while he was previously the President of the association as well.
A recipient of multiple accolades in journalism, Zahir had won the Silver Pen and Diamond Pen accolades in journalism as well as the national award for his over three-decades of contribution in the field.
Abdulla Rameez, another recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award this year, began his journalistic career 40 years ago with 'Koadhu' magazine. He began working as a full-time journalist in 1985 as a reporter of Dhivehi-Raajjeyge Adu (VOM).
After holding various positions at VOM, Rameez transitioned to Television Maldives (TVM), where he currently serves as the Director of News and Current Affairs.
He had also previously worked at the now-defunct 'Aafathis' print news.
