One of the biggest passenger liners to visit Maldives docked in capital Male's harbour on Wednesday.
The MSC Magnifica, which measures 965 feet in length, is carrying 2,500 passengers on this voyage, in addition to 1,200 crew members.
MSC Magnifica comes equipped with her own swimming pool, wellness centre and cinema. The USD 574 million cruise ship set off on her maiden voyage in 2010.
The passenger liner is scheduled to visit 32 countries within a span of 119 days.
MSC Magnifica will depart from Maldives on Thursday.
Maldives Association of Yacht Agent (MAYA), which markets Maldives to passenger liners, super yachts and mega yachts, as well as celebrities and foreign leaders, stated that 50 similar vessels will journey through Maldives this year.
According to a spokesperson from MAYA, some of these boats are larger than MSC Magnifica.
MAYA additionally noted the various challenges they face such as the lack of washrooms and waiting areas for tourists arriving from passenger liners and the various permits needed prior to a cruise liner's arrival.
