A married couple from India has been arrested for smuggling in drugs to the Maldives.
Two kilograms of drugs were found in their luggage when they arrived in the country. Criminal Court has placed them in remand in custody until October 19.
The court order said that there is some evidence to support the allegations against the couple.
It further said that despite efforts to assign a translator for them, it has not been arranged as of yet. As the investigating police officer said he speaks Hindi, the translation was done through him, the order reads.
The duration of custody is short as an official translator has not been assigned.
