Police, on Thursday night, arrested two suspects accused of attempting a premeditated crime in capital Male'.
Police spokesperson stated that they received reports of two men wearing helmets and wielding knives outside the Happy Market shop at approximately 2244. Once police reached the location, the helmet-clad men got into an accident as they attempted to drive away on a motorcycle.
One of the men was arrested on site, while the second man was detained near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital’s canteen.
According to the police, the men were wearing helmets and two shirts each, and with a fake number plate over the motorcycle’s original plate.
Police towed the motorcycle they used.
The two detainees, aged 20 and 22, have been remanded for ten days by the Criminal Court.
