Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives has claimed Covid-19 cases are on the rise once again, according to recent statistics.
According to the agency, Covid positive cases on a weekly basis stood at 40 on average in August 2022. The weekly average increased in October according to HPA.
Total number of cases reported in October reached 84, while a total of 90 cases have been reported during first week of November.
HPA's media official speaking with "Mihaaru News" confirmed that cases of patients reporting high fever and symptoms of the contagion has surged in recent weeks. Upon tests, many of them have shown positive to Covid-19.
Moreover, cases of admittance has increased since the beginning of November. By the end of October, only 16 patients repeated receiving intense treatment while hospitalized, but the number has since gone up to 25 during the first week of this month.
Since the pandemic's outbreak in the Maldives back in 2020, HPA reports a total of 185,454 positive cases with 309 deaths recorded, with the most recent death on Monday, November 7 - after a significant interval since the last Covid-19 related death was reported.
