Maldives Police Service announced manhunt for two individuals suspected of scam and fraud.

The suspects have been reported to have made several scam calls in the pretext of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) representatives. The case is investigated by the Economic Crime Department of local law enforcement.

Authorities have yet to establish the suspects' identities, while a CCTV footage of the said individuals was captured earlier.

Local law enforcement have requested public assistance in formally identifying the individuals, both male. Maldives Police urged the public to contact on their Economic Crime Department number at 9790048 if they were privy to the whereabouts and identities of the suspects.

Scam calls in recent months intensified to alarming rates. Several complaints have already been raised over malicious calls in the pretext of HDC, claiming to award housing flats.

Authorities have cautioned the public to remain vigil for such calls. Relevant bodies have confirmed their representatives will not, at any condition and on behalf of the said organizations, contact customers via personal mobile phone numbers.
