Vice President of the People's National Congress (PNC), Ibrahim Shujau has announced his candidacy for the Haa Alifu Atoll Baarah constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election.
Shujau announced his decision via a X, in which he shared his decision and sought the support of the constituents of Baarah.
A local of Baarah and the current representative for Hulhumalé constituency on the Malé City Council, Shujau previously served as the island's MP during the 18th session of the parliament.
He secured the Hulhumalé constituency seat on the Malé City Council in the year 2020.
Shujau plays a significant role in coordinating the political activities of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) coalition, serving as the main opposition during the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)-led government.
With Shujau's recent announcement, he is the third member of Malé City Council to declare his candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary election next year.
