Local telecommunications giant Dhiraagu, on Thursday, announced the provision of its conference calling 'PhoneMEETING 130' service free of charge for the NGO 'Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives'.
As part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility programme, Dhiraagu continues to offer the service to BVISM since 2016 .
According to Dhiraagu, the move will help ease the operation of the NGO, as the blind and the visually impaired face logistical difficulties in conducting meetings in person.
In the past, BVISM has conducted language classes for its 200 members, as well as hosting Islamic Nasheed competitions through the conferencing service.
The organization also utilizes the services to conduct physical and mental health awareness sessions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dhiraagu noted the company hopes to continue its support and advocate for the rights of blind and visually impaired in the Maldivian society, adding that the company would provide assistance for social causes in the future.
