An unknown party set three motorcycles on fire in Laamu atoll Gan island in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Police spokesperson, the three motorcycles, which belong to a family of Gan’s Mathimaradhoo ward, were set aflame around 3:00 a.m. on May 14. The motorcycles were parked at the family’s house and burnt beyond use though no damage was caused to the house.
Police are yet to arrest any suspects in this case.
Gan Island Council’s member Ahmed Zaki stated that the motorcycles were very new and that the reason behind the act is unknown.
“A family of Mathimaradhoo live [in that house]. One of them is a policeman.”
According to Zaki, the fires were put out by some island residents.
