A man arrested for drug trafficking told the court that the items found in his possession were not drugs but wheat flour.
The 32-year-old man was arrested with suspicious substances and charged with possession and trafficking of drugs.
According to the Criminal Court's arrest warrant, police recovered a rubber packet with suspicious content from the left front pocket of his jeans.
When asked what it was, he said in his defense that the items found in his pocket was a packet of wheat flour to prank a friend. The court order stated that it was important to analyse the substance immediately due to the claim.
The suspect has prior drug and theft records. The reason for his arrest was the possibility of a threat to the safety of the community.
The police have submitted evidence to the court indicating he has committed the alleged crime.
The suspect asked the court for his right to a lawyer to proceed with the trial. Criminal Court judge Soffath Habeeb ordered him to be remanded in custody for five days to appoint him a lawyer.
