The most recent update from the Ministry of Tourism has indicated that the total number of tourist arrivals as of 23rd March 2022 reached 394,200 in annual terms.
Meanwhile, Russian tourist arrivals to the Maldives by the review period reached 50,832 which is a 12.9 percent of the market share.
On the other hand, the United Kingdom is gradually catching up to the top ranker with an annual arrival total of 44,597 accounted for as of 23rd March. This translates to 11.3 percent of the market share.
India has maintained its third rank with an annual arrival total of 41,559 which is 10.5 percent of the market share, while Germany remained consistent at the fourth spot with 31,724 arrivals which translates to 8.0 percent of the market share.
Interestingly, Ukraine has completely slipped out of the top ten source market list to the Maldives while the country managed to hold on to the tenth spot during the previous review week.
Meanwhile, Austria has replaced Ukraine for the last spot on the list with an annual arrival of 8,468 which is 2.1 percent of the market share.
Ukraine's tourist arrivals have been heavily affected due to the ongoing geopolitical tension between Kyiv and Moscow, which in turn resulted in strong restrictions on Ukraine's outbound travels.
