Aisha Nurain Janah has suddenly resigned from her post as Chairperson of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Mihaaru News reports that a state official had confirmed her resignation to the media outlet.

Nurain was appointed as Chairperson of MMPRC late December last year.

Her reason for resignation remains unclear at this time. Nurain has also not provided a comment on the situation thus far.

During an interview with Mihaaru News last week, Nurain had stated her intentions to restructure and rebrand MMPRC through her role as Chairperson. She also emphasized that in the work towards advancing the tourism sector, priority would be placed on discussions and advice from tourism sector stakeholders in decision making processes.

Nurain is a Chartered Accountant who has held multiple positions in the accounting sector in New Zealand.

Prior to her move back to Maldives, Nurain, who holds a Masters in Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Science, served as the Manager at Ernst & Young where she began her journey in the firm as level 3 consultant after being recruited by a director of the company through her charity work.
