Maldives Immigration, on Tuesday, inaugurated a branch office in Dhidhoo, Haa Alif Atoll.
Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain presented the first passport processed by the office to its recipient during the inauguration ceremony. Parliamentary representative of Dhidhoo Abdulla Waheed also presided over the ceremony.
The Dhidhoo immigration office is the fourth branch Maldives Immigration has established outside of capital city of Malé under it's drive to decentralize operations.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced the establishment of the immigration office in March Dhidhoo during his trip to the island.
In order to streamline the issuance of passports, Maldives Immigration also introduced online applications for the service.
