Maldives Police Service, on Saturday, arrested a total of 21 individuals after conducting raids at two residences in the capital city of Male'.
As part of the Drug Enforcement Department (DED)'s operation, searches were carried out at Everest Aage and Gnamgnam Ge, both of which are located in Maafannu Ward.
Following the raid at Everest Aage, 11 individuals including eight local men, two local women and one Bangladheshi expatriate, were apprehended.
Meanwhile, the 10 individuals apprehended at Gnamgnam Ge were one local woman and nine local men.
Several of the aforementioned individuals were taken into police custody after being caught in the act of using illicit substances. Suspected narcotic substances were confiscated from both houses.
According to the police, Everest Aage and Gnamgnam Ge were 'drug houses', which are categorised as residences utilized to shelter drug users and distribute illicit substances.
The police recently launched a special sting operation targeting drug houses in the capital. Thus far, more than 50 individuals were arrested after raids at seven houses in Male'.
