Women and Democracy, a women’s empowerment organization, is hosting a special webinar in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), a German non-profit organization that offers political education in Germany and 60 countries across the globe
The webinar will discuss the topic of "The Role of Women in Society" with the aim of raising awareness on the role of women in Maldivian society and discuss ways to increase women's participation. The panelists of the webinar include prominent women from various fields.
The webinar will be moderated by journalist Raaia Munavvar. The panelists include Hinnavaru MP and Chairperson of the Human Rights and Gender Committee of the 19th Parliament Jeehan Mahmood, Equal Rights Initiative Chairperson and Co-Founder Dr. Marium Jabyn and owner of local business; Gift Basket, Yumna Rasheed.
According to Women and Democracy, the webinar is scheduled to be held on November 7 at 4:00 p.m. local time. Those interested in taking part in the webinar can join through Women and Democracy's social media handles.
The webinar will also discuss women's role and share in the economy, women's political and civil freedom and gender equality.
The webinar is expected to be an hour and a half long and will cover topics such as women’s economic role and contribution, political and civil freedom and achievements in gender equality.
Women and Democracy, founded in 2016, is a local NGO working towards women’s rights, empowerment and democratic governance, through various forums and training programs.
