Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Thursday that private offices and businesses will also start working from home Friday, May 7 onwards.
In an announcement signed by the Director General of Public Health Maimoonaa Aboobakuru, an indefinite work from home status for all employees in the Greater Male' Area was announced.
Unless for an essential reason, all employees should be working from home the announcement said.
Work from home status would be in affect until otherwise announced.
Previously, HPA made the announcement for government offices to start working from home from Wednesday, May 5 onwards.
With the increase in COVID numbers, HPA has been announcing stricter restrictive measures. Starting Thursday at 2100 hours, a curfew will be in affect until 0400hrs every night.
So far 33,368 people have tested positive for COVID-19, while 78 people have died from it.
