Male' City Council's Women's Development Committee has decided to conduct surveys to gauge the situations of women living in the city.
The committee said today that this initiative aims to gather knowledge about the situations of women and to provide them 'a brighter tomorrow'.
The committee said that under this program, they will be gathering information to assist in women's empowerment, women's development activities, protection of women's rights and increasing political participation amongst women.
Through this information gathering, they will also make efforts to increase the number of women pursuing higher education, learn the numbers of women who remain unemployed after having completed higher studies, and gather information required for strengthening health services for women.
The committee said that the program will be commenced on Monday, with teams active in conducting surveys on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays every week. The work will span 6 months and be conducted in 18 areas.
