The President made these nominations at a meeting with the MP Elects from People's National Congress (PNC) which is currently ongoing at the President's Official Residence, Muleeaage.

The MP Elects have unanimously agreed to back the President's nominations.

President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed said that at the meeting, the President had proposed a list of individuals that he, as leader of PNC, wishes to nominate for various posts at the Parliament.

Besides the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, these nominations are as follows:

Opposition MDP secured only 12 seats. Meanwhile, The Democrats and Adhaalath Party did not win any seats.
