Kidnapping of Nepalese man was due to monetary disputes

Police has revealed that the kidnapping of the Nepalese man who was rescued last night was incited by monetary disputes. The victim was being held at a guesthouse for seven days before his rescue and is currently under police care, and is in good condition.

Police has stated that the kidnapping of the foreigner held hostage in a guest house in Maafannu ward of Male' City was incited by monetary disputes.

The Anti Human Trafficking Department of the Police had rescued a Nepalese man last night, seven days after he had been kidnapped and held hostage in a guest house on the road adjacent to the grocery store, VB Mart.

Police had previously said that they received reports of the man's kidnapping on Friday and stated that the premises where the man was being held is currently undergoing investigation.

Speaking with Mihaaru News, Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan revealed that the kidnapping was incited by monetary disputes.

Police have said that the case is being further investigated.

Two Bangladeshi men were also arrested in relation to the case last night.

The victim is currently under police care and in good condition.
