Criminal Court has ordered to extend the remand of a woman accused of multiple assaults, including a recent incident involving a sharp object.

The 30-year-old, from Thaa atoll Thimarafushi, was previously arrested for stabbing a shopkeeper in the neck but was released before being detained again on September 15 for a new assault charge.

The court ruled that evidence supports the charges against her, citing her history of criminal behavior, including intimidation and robbery.

She allegedly attacked a man with a sharp object and discarded the weapon when police attempted to arrest her, the court order said.

Despite claiming she only visited the scene to retrieve her phone, a box cutter was found in her possession which is believed to have been used in the assault.

Previous psychological assessments recommended drug treatment, but the necessary court order for treatment was not issued.
