Maldives National University (MNU) on Sunday unveiled 'Furaatha', a campaign centred around giving back to society and promotion of community service.

The campaign was inaugurated by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, at a special ceremony held at the university.

Under 'Furaatha', which is driven by the idea that simple acts of kindness can have exponential effects, MNU aims to encourage individuals and communities to take initiatives that would prove beneficial to society as a whole.

Delivering her remarks at the inauguration, First Lady Fazna declared that every individual holds the responsibility to contribute towards the common good, stating that individual success can only be attained within a prosperous society.

She called for unity among all citizens in order to build strong communities and to promote positive social values such as empathy and kindness. The first lady also underscored the importance of leading by example and being role models for future generations.

According to MNU, a series of community-based programmes, targeted towards different age groups, will be carried out under 'Furaatha'.
