Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has taken part in the coronation ceremony of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
After the passing of Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-serving queen last year, her son, King Charles, was formally crowned as the king of the United Kingdom in London's Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6.
Ten officers from the MNDF represented Maldives as a member country of the Commonwealth during the event, which saw participation from around 400 troops from various Commonwealth countries.
This is the first time that the Maldives armed forces have participated in such an event in a foreign country.
In addition to being the King of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms, King Charles III is also the Head of the Commonwealth.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed are taking part in the official ceremonies to welcome King Charles III to the throne.
