Privately run ADK Hospital has revealed that it was currently recording over 100 cases of viral fever daily.
According to ADK's statistics publicised late on Wednesday, the number of patients seeking consultations for viral fever rose above 100 from May 17, with a record number of 200 patients on the 21st.
Viral fever cases began to rise from the beginning of this month, with a total of 1,016 cases from May 1 to May 6, while there were 928 cases between May 16 to May 21 alone.
While ADK Hospital has gone public with its statistics amidst the ongoing viral fever, flu and influenza outbreak in the Maldives, state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has yet to disclose any official information. However Health Protection Agency (HPA) recently urged caution amidst the flare-up, and advised the public to avoid hospitals and healthcare centres unless strictly necessary.
ADK Hospital has also opened a special flu clinic to cater to patients suffering from fever and flu. The clinic is open from 2:00 p.m. until midnight everyday.
Meanwhile, a patient with influenza passed away in ADK on Wednesday night. The Maldives had recorded over 200 cases of influenza last year as well, with six individuals dying from the disease.
