National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has said today that the agency had MVR 871 million in unpaid dues to various parties by November last year.

This was revealed in today's meeting of the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.

Statistics shared by NSPA on request of the Public Accounts Committee show that by the end of the previous administration on November 17, 2023, NSPA owed MVR 871 million to various State and private entities.

This year's budget also has an allocation of MVR 4 billion to be granted as aid from NSPA. This includes aid to single mothers and medical treatment related aid. NSPA expenses have been rising every year.

Public Accounts Committee has disclosed the pending payments to ADK from Aasandha and NSPA. Aasandha and NSPA owe MVR 144 million to ADK alone.

Members in today's meeting criticized Aasandha for refusing to divulge the information they had requested, and decided to once again request for the information.
