Maldivian to commence flights to Colombo in April

Maldivian Airline is set to commence flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka from April this year.

Maldivian has decided to introduce flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka beginning from April.

A statement released by Island Aviation states that flights to Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport will begin from April 25.

The introduction of these flights is expected to present advantages to both countries.

Island Aviation Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said that efforts had been made for a long time to introduce flights between the countries, and emphasized that the ultimate introduction of these flights would now present a huge benefit to businesses and tourism in both countries.

Tickets are on sale for this sector commencing now, and can be bought through either visiting the airline's offices, through their mobile application or even through their website.

At present, the airline offers two flights a week to the destination, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Maldivian said that special attention had been placed on scheduling flights in a way that would be of maximum convenience to businesses and the public.

The company further aspires to provide connecting flights to Colombo via the 16 domestic airports it flies to.

Airbus A320 airplanes will be used for these trips, with the company currently working on acquiring an additional airplane of the same make and model.
