Maldives Police Service announced that a dinghy carrying three minors that went missing during its journey from Maamiligi, Alif Dhaalu Atoll to Feeali, Faafu Atoll, was found late Friday.

Reported missing at approximately 14:30 hours on Friday, the dinghy carried children aged 9, 11 and 13, in addition to a single crew member.

Police revealed that a Sea Ambulance discovered the pink vessel with no injuries to the four individuals on board.

The vessel was found roughly 4.8 kilometres outside the uninhabited island of Himithi in Faafu Atoll and was towed to Feeali.

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) on Friday, issued yellow alerts across Central Atolls due to the extreme weather conditions.

Heavy torrential rain, severe thunderstorms and strong winds are forecasted by MET to regions starting from Kaafu Atoll to Thaa Atoll according to the yellow alert issued at 1930 hours till midnight.

MET urged travellers to urge caution and projected the severe weather patterns to carry forward into the coming week.
