More than 500 flats will be completed and handed over by February next year, and the remaining flats will be completed by the end of the year, according to Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) Managing Director Hamdhan Shakeel.
The first four towers will be completed by February next year, Shakeel told the media after the unveiling the "Amaan Dhoadhi" mock-up apartment.
Hamdhan said that 95 percent of the towers have been completed and a few finishing works are currently underway and will be handed over as soon as they are completed.
Hamdhan said some changes have been made to expedite the construction of the flats.
"As soon as the towers are completed, the resources will be diverted to the remaining towers. The plan is to complete the flats quickly and make it possible for people to move in instead of slowly completing the project," he said.
He said that February, a flat would be completed and handed over every two months.
"My goal is to complete 32 towers by December 31 [next year]," he said.
Hamdhan said there were logistical difficulties in constructing the flats, and those have been sorted out.
The four towers to be completed first have been handed over to JMC company. Hamdhan said that 600 of the flats handed over to NBCC will be completed by the middle of next year.
FDC is constructing 4,000 flats in Hulhumalé 2. There are 32 towers of 17-18 storeys each. Each floor has eight apartments, including 1,200 two-bedroom flats and 2,800 three-bedroom flats.
