Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) conducted a workshop on corporate governance for the chiefs and senior officers of enterprises on Friday.
In a statement, CMDA stated that the one-day workshop, held at Hulhule Island Hotel in airport island Hulhule, was commenced by the auditor general Hassan Ziyath. The auditor general declared that familiarising local firms with corporate governance policies will increase investor trust in the Maldives’ market.
The major component of CMDA’s workshop was the role of company’s board of directors in implementing corporate governance policies in their companies. The workshop also discussed strategies to acquaint directors with their mandate with the necessary training, and operate firms as transparently as possible.
According to CMDA, the workshop was taken by an expert of corporate governance, Sharon Ditchburn of Nasdaq Dubai Academy. CMDA also disclosed that total 42 participants from state offices, public companies and private firms had participated in the workshop.
