Directors training program for local authority companies hosted by Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) concludes.
The program was run as a collaborative effort by CMDA's Institute of Corporate Directors and Secretaries (ICDS) and Ministry of Economic Development. This marks the third such program in a series of directors training sessions.
CMDA's third training program ran via online. Attendees were given information on international best practices standards, statutory regulations of local authority companies.
Additionally, CMDA disseminated information on business ethics, sustainable investments, important factors for consideration by directors in formulating board strategies of companies. The training program also included specific sessions highlighting other corporate governance aspects such as tax system, anti-corruption, procurement procedures, financial statements and annual reporting protocols.
Information were provided by experts from CMDA, Ministry of Economic Development, Auditor General's Office, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at the program that ran from September 6 to 8. In addition to this, technical experts from Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) and Ooredoo Maldives had provided valuable business insight as well.
A total of 19 different attendees acquired general information on corporate governance procedures. CMDA further confirmed a fourth program will be scheduled from October 17 to 19.
