Bassam Adeel Jaleel, president of the FAM, who controlled Valencia directly or indirectly for nearly a decade, has completely lost control of the club.
Bassam, who also served as Valencia's Vice-President, lost control of the club when people close to him were removed from the board and replaced by others.
Following the appointment of Abdulla Azmeen as Valencia's chairman, significant changes occurred, including the removal of three board members associated with Bassam and the addition of two new members. Azmeen was appointed chairman after Bassam's brother Raslan Adeel Jaleel, who was earlier the Chairman, stepped down.
The ousted members include Hussain Waheed (Dhona), the club's former finance director, Ali Mamdooh Mohamed, and Misbah Mohamed, both closely linked to Bassam.
In their place, Valencia welcomed Yusuf Azeem (Yutte), an academy coach and former player, and Ahmed Shareef (Maade'), a former Valencia manager and player.
The current Board of Valencia
- President: Abdulla Azmeen - Vice President: Ilmau Hussain (Mau) - Sports Director: Ismail Asif (Kuda Heena) - Board Member: Yusuf Ramiz (Rami) - Board Member: Mohammad Rafiu - Board Member: Yusuf Azeem (Yutte) - Board Member: Ahmed Shareef (Maade)
With the two recent additions to the board, Valencia's board has already registered with the Sports Commissioner's office.
A group controlled by Hussain Waheed gathered near the residence of Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal on Tuesday night and demanded his resignation, alleging that the board board was fraudulently registered without the knowledge of Valencia members.
Hussain Waheed, the head of FAM's maintenance department and a close associate of Bassam, expressed his concern last night, stating that the Valencia board was altered without his knowledge or that of other board members. He claimed that the board had been registered in violation of rules, prompting him and a group of Valencia members to assemble near Tholal's house.
Hussain Waheed and his gathering voiced slogans while displaying images of Azumeen and the reinstated board member Ahmed Shareef (Maade'). They dispersed when the police arrived at the scene. Bassam's Exco member Mufawiz Hashim, and Ahmed Thorig (Tom), included Valencia's endorsement letter in their list of support, causing the FAM's electoral committee to reject the support letters. Consequently, Thorig's candidacy was deemed invalid as he lacked the required support from a sufficient number of first-division-backed clubs.
When he lodged an appeal, there was no appeals committee within the FAM. Presently, FIFA has intervened, leading to the suspension of the election process by the FAM.
In addition to Azmeen, Valencia's Vice-President Ilmau, sports director, and coach Kuda Heena Yoosuf Rameez (Rami), and Mohamed Rafiu have enlisted their support for Thorig.
Ilmau and Rami endorsed the Valencia letter submitted by Mufa. Subsequently, the letter gained signatures from Misbah, Ilmau, and Rami, alongside Hussain Waheed, Mamdooh, and Misbah.
Ilmau, who participated in this month's press conference against Azmeen alongside Hussain Waheed, was not present at last night's rally.
