Housing Development Corporation has contracted China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) with major projects in Hulhumale' Phase 3 under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parties on Tuesday.
HDC said that under this agreement, CMEC will establish an electricity network in the location, and set up a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). GPON is a network that in recent times is being used to provide voice, data, video and internet services at gigabit speed to residences.
Road development will also be undertaken under this agreement, with the streets designed to better facilitate protection in instances of fire incidents, with the water and sewerage systems also better developed, HDC revealed.
During President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's State visit to China, CMEC was also contracted with establishing municipal services in his eco-city project, RasMale', as well as in Gulhi Falhu, which was developed to provide a solution for housing needs by the previous administration.
