Speaker Nasheed begins Ambassador work for CVF

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, on Wednesday, began his work as the Thematic Ambassador for the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the former president of Maldives held a meeting with CVF's current chair, Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, and senior officials of the forum including members of the Bangladeshi Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

During the forum, CVF"s chair Abul Kalam praised Nasheed's contributions within the field of environment.

One of the main focuses of Nasheed during his Ambassadorship will be to assist the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement signed during COP21, as well as advocating for a transition towards 100 percent renewable energy usage.

Established in 2009, CVF is an international partnership of 48 countries that face heightened threats due to climate change. Serving as a South-South cooperation platform, CVF aims to boost awareness, encourage the implementation of environmentally sustainable policies and increase the use of renewable energy.
