President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has designated a Special Envoy for Climate Change, along with the appointment of 11 additional state ministers, as announced by the President's Office.
Dr Ali Shareef of Ma. Nylon has been assigned the role of Special Envoy for Climate Change.
The 11 state ministerial appointments made today are as follows;
1. Lubna Mohamed Zahir Hussein - H. Neelvilla (Ministry of Homeland, Security, and Technology)
2. Mohamed Tariq Ahmed - Fuvahmulah, Nerulhu, Dandimagu (Economic Development and Trade)
3. Dr. Azmath Ahmed - Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli, Kinaara (Fisheries and Ocean Resources)
4. Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim - H. Noomuthi (Sports, Fitness, and Recreation)
5. Mohamed Shahuruziyad - Seenu Maradhoofeydhoo Bluehaven (Local Language, Culture, and Heritage)
6. Mariyam Fizana Rasheed - M. Zeyvar (Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development)
7. Dr. Abdul Raheem Hassan - Thaa Hirilandhoo, Lilyge (Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development)
8. Fathimath Mohamed - G. Greenbeans (Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development)
9. Ahmed Shafeeu - Haa Alif Ihavandhoo (Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development)
10. Ahmed Munaz - H. Kisthy (Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts)
11. Mohamed Ibrahim - H. Noomuthi (Cities, Local Government, and Public Works)
Several of these appointees have previously held diverse roles in past administrations, including Shafeeu, Lubna, Mohamed Ibrahim, Dr. Abdul Raheem Hassan, and Dr. Azmath.
This follows President Muizzu's recent appointment of 25 state ministers on the preceding day.
