Maldives' main tourism promotion body, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), is taking part in the China Outboard Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM), the largest tourism fair hosted in China.
Led by the Maldivian Ambassador to China, Mohamed Faisal, a total of 10 local companies, including MMPRC, is taking part in the three-day fair hosted in Beijing, which commenced on Tuesday and will continue until Thursday.
In this fair, the natural beauty of Maldives will be advertised internationally by utilizing recent technology such as virtual reality.
Since 2010, most of the visitors to Maldives hail from China. A total of 283,116 Chinese tourists visited the island nation in 2018.
The highest tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2019 were also from China. However, official statistics show that the number of visitors from the Asian giant has recently been declining.
