Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Thursday placed Aishath Susan Haneef, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, under paid suspension for a period of 30 days.

In a statement, CSC revealed they made the decision following complaints filed against Susan, as well as administrative issues identified in a special audit conducted by the commission.

In a letter addressed to CSC President Mohamed Nasih, staff from the tourism ministry raised doubts over Susan's capabilities in fulfilling the responsibilities of her position, listing several complaints alleging that Susan:

- Did not work to advance her staff, in her capacity as the permanent secretary, during the past year.

- Finalised decisions without discussing with the ministry's HRMD Committee as per policy.

- Suspended civil servants employed at the ministry without discussing with the HRMD Committee.

- Following orders issued by ministry officials in political posts, although they violated Civil Service regulations.

- Neglected to take action against Civil Service policy violations such as unlawful transfer of staff between sections.

Furthermore, the letter submitted last Sunday also placed allegations of discrimination on Susan.
