The Civil Service Commission (CSC) decided on Thursday to set two years as the maximum period for which female civil servants can receive special accommodations when returning to work after childbirth.
In a circular issued to government offices on Thursday, the commission announced its decision to implement a uniform procedure for accommodating flexible work hours among civil servants. This measure aims to ensure that employees can easily transition back to the specified working hours after childbirth.
The CSC stated that employees should have the flexibility to set their working hours in a way that does not impede the institution's work. Additionally, this flexible period should not be less than half of their regular working hours.
The circular noted that this flexibility should not impact the employee's salary or allowances during this period.
Since 2019, the government has mandated six months of maternity leave and one month of paternity leave for civil servants who become parents.
